I was wondering, I have animal b12 is it the same as human grade b12?

@Bethany while the FDA may not have placed a hold on cyanocobalam the one and only current manufacturer is not producing it. Pharmacies have been out some of them for over 2 months (as I was informed at my regular pharmacy and then another one I visited to ask if they had any in stock). I give myself weekly b12 shots as my body will not maintain my b12 levels. I have been tested for pernicious anemia and all lab results have been negative. My doctor does not feel that my body will absorb enough b12 from just using supplements alone. I can drop over 300 points in one month with no shots (tested it out to see).

I have just been prescribed B – 12 shot by my doctor for anemia. What good will taking 3cc once a month do when it leaves your body within 12 hours?

@Vicki: There has NOT been an FDA hold placed on vitamin B-12 injections. They must be administered under the advice of a doctor. I take them weekly for pernicious anemia, and must have a prescription to present to the pharmacy.

@Hermann: It is not wise to give medical advice if you are not a licensed practicioner. Any clinic that gives B-12 injections without the proper testing prior to administration is operating under shady circumstances. It is not a good idea, either, to order prescription meds from countries where it is NOT prescription-only. Many out-of-country suppliers supply bogus or counterfeit drugs. On some, the packaging is almost impossible to tell from the actual product. It’s a dangerous practice on many levels.

Went to get B-12 shot and no one has any. Drug store claims F.D.A. has placed a hold and can not order. How can I get B-12 shots?

I can’t think of why they’re would be a conflict but I’m not familiar with those medicines, so I suggest you go see your doctor that prescribed you those.
