Bee Pollen Health Benefits

Often touted as the “Perfect Food”, bee pollen has over 96 different nutrients and has been used in traditional Chinese and Ancient Egyptian herbal medicine for thousands of years as well as the Romans and the Greeks including Hippocrates himself over 2,500 years ago. It contains every nutrient that we know of required to sustain human life and all the main antioxidants that have been discovered to date making it one of the most nutritionally complete natural substances we know of.

It contains 22 amino acids, sources of Vitamin C, Vitamin B-complex with folic acid, polyunsaturated fatty acids, enzymes, and carotene. It also contains the trace elements iron, zinc, manganese, copper, calcium, magnesium, and potassium, all of which the body cannot produce but are vital components of good health. Bee pollen is made up of 40 % protein almost all usable by the human body without further metabolism.

Bee pollen health benefits are numerous considering it contains everything we need and it has been suggested that 35 grams of bee pollen daily would be a sufficient amount. Even a healthy diet falls short of providing all the trace minerals our body needs so adding bee pollen as a health supplement makes sense.

One of the main bee pollen benefits is as an energy booster and it is used by athletes worldwide to increase endurance, but when it comes to health benefits, that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

  • Hi,
    Nice informative article.
I agree that Bee Pollen are one of the finest source known to mankind for vitamins, minerals, enzymes and other nutrients. But there are precautions to be exercised by the people allergic to pollens. I hope people take this into account.

I have been taking bee pollen daily for the past 8 months. I have more energy than ever before and have not been sick once. I believe in the pollen!

  • Since I started using Bee Pollen, I have noticed an increased amount of energy. Thank you for the great article. I learned a lot.

  • Judy Correll:

I read about the benefits then go to web MD and they say nothing has been proven.

  • ant banks:

    @judy,

WebMD is a site established by all of the american blah, blah association. so you will not see any non traditional medicines offered on webmd. during christopher columbus days, they ate lemons to cure scurvy, which is a natural product. webmd would not tell you about lemons becuase they want you to use doctors to be cured of ailments

Remember, there’s no money in welness for the drug companies and doctors….
watch the movie Food Matters… it is an EYE OPENER.
(You can see it thru Netflix on computer even, they have a free month trial, too.)
Did you know that simply taking increased doses of niacin… yes, just B3… has brought people out of depression?!? And the worst side effect is a niacin flush in your cheeks!! There were only 2 incidences of related issues in deaths over the past decades as compared to 10’s of 1000’s of deaths by prescription drugs taken for depression.
You won’t hear about it… the big drug companies know how to squelch findings with their big money and unlimited lawyers working things.

  • Dave Huston:

Lynn is correct. As a Doctor, I’ve found numerous benefit’s to using bee pollen. A greater sense of well being and improved energy is established in most cases. Less burnout at the end of a workout and improved lung function was apparent even after a short cycle of use. Also if interested in a “real” snakeoil try NEEM OIL !!! it is probably the most interesting natural product on earth. I am a huge advocate for NEEM OIL use. from plant and personal care to amazing birth control properties. There are many reason’s why American’s are unaware of many natural product’s. They all stem from one reason MONEY !!! As American’s are now able to self-educate themselves due to internet. Many are feeling empowered to use natural product’s as a prevention to ailment’s not a cure. A ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure. Dr. DAVID HUSTON SELOVER 6-10-2011
